FAQ...

Q. How long are your vouchers valid for?

A. Our vouchers are valid for a full year. Normally this period starts from the date of booking, but we can date the voucher from a specific date e.g. a birthday or Christmas, if you are intending to give the flight as a present, so they have the whole year to arrange their flight.

Q. You fly in small balloons, does that mean they are less safe?

A. No, not in the slightest. All balloons, no matter what size, are manufactured to very high standards, and have to have an annual inspection (like a MOT for a car but arguably more detailed) to make sure they are still airworthy.

Q. What is the difference between big and small balloons?

A. The only differences are the number of people the balloon can carry and the way in which the pilot and passengers are arranged within the basket. Larger balloons, due to thier size, have more lifting capability, therefore, can carry more passengers. Most big balloons take between 6-12 passengers. Ours carry 4! Larger balloons also require seperate compartments in the basket so that the pilot is separated from the passengers, our smaller balloon does not require this. Just like a competition balloon.

Q. How old are your balloons?

A. We only use two hot air balloons. The older balloon was manufactured in 1999 and is used for our exclusive flights. Our other balloon, in which we fly most of our passengers was manufactured in 2004. Each balloon still has hundreds of flying hours left in them.

Q. Can I pick a specific date to fly?

A. Yes, if you wish to pick a specific date to fly you are more than welcome. Not only can you book a specific date you can choose a morning or evening flight as well! Dates are issued on a first come first served basis. It is advisable not to leave booking a date till the last minute because other people may have already preceeded you! All ballooning is weather dependant, we advise people wishing to book a specific date to book a "fall back" date at the same time, so if your original flight date is cancelled, you've already got another one to look forward to!

Q. When do you stop flying for the winter?

A. We don't! We fly all year round, and if you wish to book a specific date during the winter you can. The only problem is the weather. Hot air ballooning is weather dependant, and we require very specific conditions to fly, which unfortunately are not as forthcoming during the winter months.

Q. What happens to the passengers once you've landed? How do we get home?

A. The balloon is followed by our retrieve vehicle (a 4x4 and trailer) once the balloon has landed and been retrieved we give all the passengers a lift back to the launch site.

Q. What weather conditions are needed to fly?

A. Ballooning requires very precise weather conditions. These are light winds both on the surface and up to around 2000ft, no low cloud, good visibility, no thermal activity and no rain. These conditions are normally found around the first few hours after dawn and the last few hours before dusk during periods of high pressure.
